NAVIGATION - RESTRICTED AREA – SLUICE GATE AND FISH PASS – CARDIFF BAY
BARRAGE
The area of water
in front of the sluices and fish pass and between the two breakwaters
is an excluded area to all vessels except those that have Harbour
Authority approval to undertake environmental maintenance works or
survey works (see
attached plan).
The area presents a serious health and safety risk to those navigating
in this area from water discharging from the Barrage five sluices that
regulate Cardiff Bay. There are also overhead obstructions that
present health and safety risks.
Fishing is prohibited in the identified area. The Environment Agency
has confirmed that any person fishing in the identified area would be
in breach of statutory fish legislation and be guilty of an offence,
it should be noted enforcement action is available to the Environment
Agency.
